The surah that mentions the moment in which God first revealed the Quran, calling it The Ordainment. It is named after the phrase “the night of ordainment” (laylay al-qadr), mentioned in verse 1. The surah celebrates the night when the first revelation of the Quran was sent down.The surah is also known as: Determination, Honour, Power, The Glory, The Night of Empowering Decree, The Night of Glory, The Night of Power.

إِنّا أَنزَلناهُ في لَيلَةِ القَدرِ
ʾinnā ʾanzalnāhu fī laylati l-qadri
Indeed We sent it1 downon the Night of Ordainment.That is, the Qurʾān. See 44:2-5.

وَما أَدراكَ ما لَيلَةُ القَدرِ
wa-mā ʾadrāka mā laylatu l-qadri
What will show youwhat is the Night of Ordainment?

لَيلَةُ القَدرِ خَيرٌ مِن أَلفِ شَهرٍ
laylatu l-qadri khayrun min ʾalfi shahrin
The Night of Ordainmentis better than a thousand months.

تَنَزَّلُ المَلائِكَةُ وَالرّوحُ فيها بِإِذنِ رَبِّهِم مِن كُلِّ أَمرٍ
tanazzalu l-malāʾikatu wa-r-rūḥu fīhā bi-ʾidhni rabbihim min kulli ʾamrin
In it the angels and the Spirit descend,by the leave of their Lord,with every command.
