yusabbiḥu li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ʾarḍi l-maliki l-quddūsi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥakīmi
Whatever there is in the heavens glorifies Allahand whatever there is in the earth, the Sovereign, the All-holy,the All-mighty, the All-wise.
2
huwa lladhī baʿatha fī l-ʾummiyyīna rasūlan minhum yatlū ʿalayhim ʾāyātihī wa-yuzakkīhim wa-yuʿallimuhumu l-kitāba wa-l-ḥikmata wa-ʾin kānū min qablu la-fī ḍalālin mubīnin
It is He who sent to the unlettered [people]an apostle from among themselves,to recite to them His signs, to purify them, and to teach them the Book and wisdom, and earlier they had indeed beenin manifest error.
3
wa-ʾākharīna minhum lammā yalḥaqū bihim wa-huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
And to others from among them [as well]who have not yet joined them. And He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.
4
dhālika faḍlu llāhi yuʾtīhi man yashāʾu wa-llāhu dhū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīmi
That is Allah’s gracewhich He grants to whomever He wishes, and Allah is dispenser of a great grace.

mathalu lladhīna ḥummilū t-tawrāta thumma lam yaḥmilūhā ka-mathali l-ḥimāri yaḥmilu ʾasfāran biʾsa mathalu l-qawmi lladhīna kadhdhabū bi-ʾāyāti llāhi wa-llāhu lā yahdī l-qawma ẓ-ẓālimīna
The example of those who were charged with the Torah, then failed to carry it,is that of an ass carrying books.Evil is the example of the people whodeny Allah’s signs, and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot.

qul yā-ʾayyuhā lladhīna hādū ʾin zaʿamtum ʾannakum ʾawliyāʾu li-llāhi min dūni n-nāsi fa-tamannawu l-mawta ʾin kuntum ṣādiqīna
Say, ‘O Jews!If you claim that you are Allah’s favourites,to the exclusion of other people, then long for death, should you be truthful.’
7
wa-lā yatamannawnahū ʾabadan bi-mā qaddamat ʾaydīhim wa-llāhu ʿalīmun bi-ẓ-ẓālimīna
Yet they will never long for it,because of what their hands have sent ahead, and Allah knows best the wrongdoers.
8
qul ʾinna l-mawta lladhī tafirrūna minhu fa-ʾinnahū mulāqīkum thumma turaddūna ʾilā ʿālimi l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādati fa-yunabbiʾukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna
Say, ‘Indeed the death that you fleewill indeed encounter you. Then you will be returnedto the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, and He will inform youabout what you used to do.’
9
yā-ʾayyuhā lladhīna ʾāmanū ʾidhā nūdiya li-ṣ-ṣalāti min yawmi l-jumuʿati fa-sʿaw ʾilā dhikri llāhi wa-dharū l-bayʿa dhālikum khayrun lakum ʾin kuntum taʿlamūna
O you who have faith! When the call is made for prayer on Friday, hurry toward the remembrance of Allah, and leave all business. That is better for you, should you know.
10
fa-ʾidhā quḍiyati ṣ-ṣalātu fa-ntashirū fī l-ʾarḍi wa-btaghū min faḍli llāhi wa-dhkurū llāha kathīran laʿallakum tufliḥūna
And when the prayer is finisheddisperse through the landand seek Allah’s grace, and remember Allah greatlyso that you may be felicitous.
11
wa-ʾidhā raʾaw tijāratan ʾaw lahwan-i nfaḍḍū ʾilayhā wa-tarakūka qāʾiman qul mā ʿinda llāhi khayrun mina l-lahwi wa-mina t-tijārati wa-llāhu khayru r-rāziqīna
When they sight a deal or a diversion, they scatter off towards itand leave you standing!Say, ‘What is with Allahis better than diversion and dealing, and Allah is the best of providers.’
