بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
The surah that admonishes the first recipients of the Quran, the Meccan tribe of Quraysh, to give thanks to the One God alone who had long bequeathed to them, in their desert surroundings, abundant provision and security. It takes its name from verse 1, which mentions the Quraysh, the tribe to which the Prophet Muḥammad belonged.The surah is also known as: Koraish, The Quraish, The Quraish (Custodians of the Ka’ba), The Tribe of Quraysh.

لِإيلافِ قُرَيشٍ

li-ʾīlāfi qurayshin

[In gratitude] for solidarity1 among the Quraysh,That is, the team spirit and concord amongst clans of the tribe of Quraysh, who conducted the trade caravans between Yemen and Syria in summer and winter.

إيلافِهِم رِحلَةَ الشِّتاءِ وَالصَّيفِ

ʾīlāfihim riḥlata sh-shitāʾi wa-ṣ-ṣayfi

their solidarity during winter and summer journeys,

فَليَعبُدوا رَبَّ هٰذَا البَيتِ

fa-l-yaʿbudū rabba hādhā l-bayti

let them worship the Lord of this House,
4
الَّذي أَطعَمَهُم مِن جوعٍ وَآمَنَهُم مِن خَوفٍ

alladhī ʾaṭʿamahum min jūʿin wa-ʾāmanahum min khawfin

who has fed them [and saved them] from hunger,and secured them from fear.
